Featured Articles Mochi Tsuki 2010 Thanks to all who volunteered their time and effort to make the mochi tsuki such a fun family event. Giving Back to the Community People of all ages and racial backgrounds came together to enjoy documentary film screenings of “Pilgrimage” and “A Song for Ourselves”. NVC Speakers Series: Mary Woodward The NVC Speakers Series featured Mary Woodward, author of the book, In Defense Of Our Neighbors, speaking of her parents, Walt and Milly Woodward. A Day of Action for Day of Remembrance February 19th of each year is recognized as the Day of Remembrance in which Executive Order 9066 was signed on this day in 1943 and resulted in the forced removal of 120,000 Japanese Americans to concentration camps. Return Visit From the 34th 'Red Bull' Division Upon returning to Ft. Lewis from Iraq, General Nash instructed division Aide de Camps to revisit NVC to present “combat” coins to the veterans. Sat Ichikawa Presents 'The Minidoka Story' to NVC At the January NVC general meeting, Mr. Sat Ichikawa presented his attractive picture/story book to the NVC. NVC Foundation Donates Houses The NVC Foundation recently donated three houses to the Seattle Fire Department to use for training. JAVA Scholarship Applications Available The Japanese American Veterans Association’s Memorial Scholarship Program for 2010 will award six scholarships $l,500 each. Crime Alert! Recent incidents of car prowls have taken place in the vicinity of the NVC Memorial Hall.
